About
After gaining my PhD from the University of Liverpool, I worked for a number of large commercial organisations in software development. This allowed me to gain a broad range of experiences in all aspects of the software lifecycle in industries which have represented the automotive, retail and financial sectors as well as working in consultancy for a number of years.
I have also worked at Liverpool Hope University as a Senior Lecturer. There, I led courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subjects such as Grid Computing, Distributed Systems and Java Programming. As a Senior Lecturer, I successfully supervised a high number of students through the dissertation process. My administrative duties in this capacity included Dissertation Manager for MSc programmes and Assessment Co-ordinator, liaising with the external examiner to ensure that assessments and examinations ran smoothly and to required standards.
I also held the post of Director of the Centre for Advanced Technology in the Deanery of Business and Computer Sciences which included management of enterprise projects within the Centre, establish partnerships with local and national organisations, promotion of the enterprise activities of the Deanery at national events and liaising with other KTP organisations in the region.
In support of my research activities, I ran a weeklong workshop hosted at the Institute for High Performance Computing, University of Cape Town titled “An Introduction to Grid Computing”. The workshop was attended by representatives from both the academic and commercial communities from across South Africa.
I am a Member of Higher Education Academy and also a Chartered IT Professional with the British Computer Society
